Yesterday was F. Scott Fitzgerald’s birthday, and I can’t think of a better way to honor him than to mix up a drink and knock a few back. Here’s to you, Old Sport!
I adapted this recipe from Martha Stewart’s version!
Fitzgerald’s Lemon Whiskey Sour
½ cup fine sugar, more for glass rims.
1 ¾ cups whiskey
1 cup lemon juice
Handful of ice cubes, plus more for glasses
Cherries, lemon peels and mint all for garnish
Combine whiskey, sugar, lemon juice, and ice cubes in a pitcher (or a saucepan like I did) and stir until the sugar is dissolved.
Rub glass rims with lemon wedge and dip rims in sugar. Add lemon peel and ice cubs to glass and pour your Lemon Whiskey Sour into a glass. Add cherries and mint for garnish.
Also, I would highly suggest eating some type of carbs with this particular cocktail, or you will be more than shmammered. Hammered. You will, dear reader, be quite drunk.
